Yes, they would be great in zoos! I remember, back in the 'unenlightened" 50's, seeing bears do nothing but pace and sleep.

I know that in the Jax zoo there were two man lions. Their exhibit was quite boring because they found a sunny spot and slept absolutely all day. If you were really really lucky you got to see them roll over.

But, after all, that is what cats do.

If they had a wheel, I don't know, maybe they would feel like using it sometimes.

Now if the otters had one...

I've often wished I could get one for my dogs - it might tire them out! I could couple it up to a little generator so they could provide electricity too...

That is very interesting and cool! I think of that scene in the pirates movie when you mentioned possibly people using one. Remember how there was this epic sword fight in Dead Man's Chest? Very funny.

As long as it is stationary, I would definitely try it.

Cute mice, as long as they stay out of my house! :) I don't fear them, I am annoyed by them because I used to have to care for the mice my sisters had as pets, and they are nocturnal, noisy, and they bite. Besides, if a mouse got in my house, my cats would have to kill it, so at least I would be entertained by the chase! *g*
I am a bit gruesome, sometimes, but then again so is Stephen! XD

I like mice, but I agree, not in the house. Cats seem quite willing to kill trespassing mice for me here, but alas, cats do not eat them. So it is imperative to find and remove dead mice right away!

Don't worry, my cats that I have now do not get out, well if they do it's Goku, and if he does it is only for a few moments until we fetch the naughty boy. Also, we do not get mice in our house. *touch wood*

However, I used to live in a tiny apartment near a field, and the cat I had back then would bring me little gifts and I would go throw them in the dumpster right away. :)

Makes me think of a Meme I just saw on Facebook this morning. It was a b&w shorthair domestic cat making a squinty eye look at the camera, sitting in front of a door. Next to this cat was a dead mouse. The meme script read "stupid Human, It was a Gift." It reminded me of my cat I used to have! I wish I could post it here, but it is such a production for me to post images on LiveJ.. X(

Anyway thanks! XD

Do they come in life-size too? I could definitely use one :)

Interesting article. Even slugs? They like to be moved, huh? :)

The slugs surprised me-- but it did seem deliberate, even for them. And after all, how can we know what fun seems like to a slug?
