My youth was almost all fresh water swimming at a very large lake, several times a day, from mid June to mid September. As an adult, I don't get to swim nearly as often. My ocean swims have been few and far between. It's usually too cold for me, though I love the bigness, the openess, the see-forever of the ocean and sand and sky. My daughter and I have a favorite beach, 8 miles long, where we can walk and talk and find beautiful stones of all colors and surprising variation, one looking like painted mini flowers, another green on one end and gold on the other, a third glowing like amber. I bring the best home and coat them with clear nail polish to keep their 'wet' look, and layer them in huge glass jars on the kitchen window, with a few fancy shells, so all Winter I can think about the beautiful beach.
Oh, that is written beautifully! I only got to go to Florida and California, so I believe I got to swim in both the Atlantic and Pacific! I loved loved loved the beach, especially Santa Monica Beach and body-surfing! Thanks for sharing! XD
