It ruins expensive felt hats that with feathers and dress colors that are known for bleeding.

Damn. Having a piece of clothing whose colors run/bleed makes it sounds pretty...cheap. I was under the impression that that should never happen. XD

Actually, some of the more expensive fabrics can get ruinned in water. It can make some fabrics lose there shape, or leave splotches on others. It's no indication of being cheap, it's just that some fabrics are more delicate than others.

Haha, they say so on the website, for use in sun -and- rain. But yay for your outfit not getting ruined.

That is wonderful news! Looks like parasols have a wonderful purpose besides sunshades, ne?

For something of delicate make like Lolita with its laces, fabrics, and dry-clean-only, it might have very well ruined it :( I think the Bible says simply 'Plan for incleminant (sp?) weather' with the unspoken, 'If you can't be bothered to watch the weather channel, you're just screwed then.' XD

lol of course they are waterproof---most parasols in japan are made to be for sun and rain nowadays lol (>v< ) and it says 晴雨兼用 (sun and rain use) on the website ^ ^;

but careful when storing it!! baby parasols get this light brown-ish mark (kind of like rust stains?) when stored/folded wet. esp if your parasol is white or pink with prints---
i never use mine in the rain cuz my friend's got ruined when the parasol got wet (=w=; )

We had a discussion about this a while ago (will they get messed up in the rain I mean) and this just made me so happy you have no idea!

Also, I love your icon. OMG that bunny thing is cute!

i dont understand why there is even a need for discussion since it says so on their website ^ ^;; (晴雨兼用, 雨の日もこれで楽しい気分になれちゃうよ and ♪傘のお取り扱いについて♪ プリントの傘は濡れたまま閉じて保管されますと 色移りすることがございますので、ご注意ください。etc etc)
but my apologies for not reading the discussion post--lol it prob didnt catch my attention since i have many parasols that are 晴雨兼用 from japan that i use in the rain normally and from what happened to my friend with her baby parasol :3 (she still uses it in the rain without leakage lol)

thanks---it is an 起き上がりこぼし that another friend of mine made (>v< )

You forgot the 'take off your clothes and run into your appartment naked' option. XD

Lolita clothes are a higher priority than dignity sometimes.
