Surface Spell Gothic's Alpen Rose skirt?

Ok. I am bit conflicted feelings about it. I am madly love with the folkloral flower print. But I don't want the drindl look. Any ideas? I thought about another style blouse(high neck), but I am pretty empty for headwear. I love the triangle old school headwear(since retangle does not suit me), but it just thickens the drindl look ( Read more... )

The only thing I can think of that maybe would avoid the drindl look is a princess sleeve blouse, the bigger the sleeves the better. And maybe an overskirt could take away some of the drindl-ness when worn with different blouses? But I agree that it will be tricky to get any different vibes out of that print, as lovely as it is (I eyed it myself for a little bit).

I have a overdress in ivory, but not sure it would help. Even they did show one cordinate with a overdress, but it was with the jsk(or I couldn't really tell about it was skirt or jsk). Anyway I realise the jsk looks less like drindl, then it is not worn with a apron. Princess sleeves are not my thing(I am scared of get them stained or burnt), but it would work in a more medival princess way. Still the skirt would be very locked in therms of cordination. But if I did choose the JSK, I should pay extra for custom size and about 200 yuan exstra for the extra fabric on the top(in which I would avoid choosing the skirt).

The skirt is not attached to the blouse, is it? If it is not, I think any change of blouse would make it fine. You could also wear a chiffon bolero or something similar to add details and layering to the top.

If they are attached, you could remove the balloon sleeves and wear it as a JSK with any other blouse or bolero or cardigan.

For headdresses a triangle head kerchief would definitely make it look more country-style. How about Alice band with a large ribbon or multiple smaller side ribbons? Or hair elastics with ribbons or lace on them (or pearls, crystals, etc.) rather than a singular headdress of any type.

The skirt and JSK are both very pretty!

The blouse and the sleeves aren't attached to the skirt(I hope not).

I guess I just too used to a single type headwear at time. I have some rose crowns( + flat metal headbands) and hats as most used headwear. Headbows tends to be a hit or miss, I have most beatiful ivory one from Lady Sloth, so long it is not my head. And I have the most crappy looking shiny ofbrand one, but them it is worn, it is another story. Hairties are not so verstaile then my hair is quite short. Mutible bows requires a bit of stylling and the only stylling I can make is french braids... I was bit keen getting a second kerchief, my style has bit of country vibe to it anyway.

You could weave ribbons into French braids and attach flowers or ribbons on clips throughout. Various clips are an easy way to add decoration to your head as you can do any style and then clip the flowers/ribbons/crystals wherever you see fit!

A straw hat or mini hat would be a nice touch for country style. Clip-on decorations could be added to the hat as well! I have a straw hat with a ribbon I sewed around the circumference. It can have flowers clipped on to it (or you could sew them on as well)

Another option is a canotier if you feel a headbow is too overwhelming for short hair. Canotier sits flatter so it would look great on short hair as well!

I do have a strawhat. The idea with weaving ribbon into the hair sounds cool. Mini hats is something I really want to ad in wardrobe, I just not come across the right one yet. I am unsure about Canotiers. They seem flat but still massive. My hair is short but often very volumious and curly on its own.

Did you ever end up buying the skirt or dress from this Alpenrose print? I thought about getting one of them from the series but I can't find anyone's review of Surface Spell Alpenrose items anywhere on the internet. I just wonder what it looks like in normal non-stock photos and how someone really thinks of it after buying it. I am just curious of the quality of the item so if you did buy one of these and could post a review on EGL it would be helpful :)

I think it is gonna be a next year purchase(I would buy the skirt, I better like skirts in general). But there is plenty of Surface Spell reviews, so you shouldn't worry. ;D
