Makeup Troubles

Apr 19, 2015 06:27

Hi I'm new to lolita, (been in it for 4 months now) and the makeup is just killing me. >.< My eyeliner always ends up on my upper lid after an hour of wearing my makeup. :/ I tried pencil and liquid eyeliners, and both did the same thing. (the liquid lasted a bit longer though) Maybe I need an eye primer or a gel eyeliner? Help please!

request: advice, beauty: make up/skincare, beauty: eyewear

Maybe try just lining with a black or deep brown eyeshadow or opt for a harder pencil rather than a kohl (something like the Kryolan contour pencils)
If you like the look of liquid liners maybe try a gel that will set matte and set it with an eyeshadow just to be sure. You could also just tightline with a black kohl to give the illusion of eyeliner without actually putting any on your lids. You could also powder over your entire lids with your face powder or an eyeshadow in a shade close to your skin to stop your eyelids from getting oily and see if that helps.

That's a good idea. I'll try using a darker eye shadow as a liner next time :D

Primers work miracles lol. I use urban decay and my eyeliner stays in place. I find liquid stays more than pencil too. Also when you use your eyeliner, let it dry on your lid a bit before opening your eyes all the way, it might help.

I'm going to go to Ulta today so I'll probably get some primer and see how it works. :)

You can get a good primer at Walmart and try one of the felt tip liquid liner pencils makes it easy to get a gel look. frosted_black is right let your eyeliner dry for about 20 seconds before opening. Also a makeup setting mist keeps makeup on e.l.f has one for $3 and my makeup stays for hours.

Seconding the Urban Decay primer! My makeup can last several hours in hot and humid weather and smudges less when I use their primer =D

I use mostly pencil and liquid liner. If I want something more subtle I may add water to a bit of eyeshadow, it also works pretty well, just need to build up to how dark you want it. The last time I bought a gel liner it dried and hardened up, I feel it's only good if you use it regularly.
