German article on Sweet Lolita from 2003 (pictures and translation)

Dec 30, 2014 00:03

Recently I got old issues of the Daisuki magazine (german manga mag). Two of those had articles about Lolita (gothic and sweet), it were these that got me interested in Lolita back then.

For nostalgic reasons, let me share the scans. Lolita was an entirely new thing in Germany (probably for the rest of us "westerners", too) back then.

Yeah, her music is not my cup of tea either, and tbh I don't know what makes her a "fashion icon"... but I agree, all the old school stuff is quite cool!

Yeah, I like the old-school-style, too. On the other hand, I'm glad Lolita has become so relaxed. Seven years ago people on EGL would tell the beginners "black x white is bad, never ever wear black x white, also platform shoes are reserved for Mana-sama". (at least that was my impression)

It's so funny that they're talking about Kana, she came to a local convention last year. She's cute as hell. It's really fun to see an article that didn't try to demonize the style. :') And the silly French spelling too omg.

Yeah, keep in mind it's a japan-friendly magazine. They had a few colour pages in each issue trying to cover japanese youth culture, trends and background infos to the mangas they published.

Back then, they had the obscure french spelling, now they do obscure german spelling, too :D
