I'm no tea expert but some type of airtight container is probably best for stuff like that. Anything airtight and maybe that isn't see through would be best so that light can't get in either. But once you find a good size container that's like that you could decorate them with pretty paper or fabric or stickers or probably anything really that you can get to stick to the surface.
I was thinking of putting the containers in a closet to protect them for the light. Good idea for the stickers and other décorations! I will keep it in mind. :)
I generally store my tea (and coffee) in the air-tight tins http://www.teavana.com/tea-products/tea-storage-tins. A quick google also shows cute tins, but I can't vouch for any of the sites (that's your research prerogative, hahah)
I work for Teavana and will highly recommend our tins. They keep your tea fresh for a long time because they are air-tight and made of metal, so they don't attract moisture or let light in. There are tons of different designs too, some more plain and some fancy.
If you don't live in the US or Canada, you'd need to ship them in, however since it's not an international company yet.
I have acquired a ridiculous tea stash over the years, and if I don't store tea in its original packaging, generally I store my tea in one of these things:
a) reused (and thoroughly washed) glass jars, b) small glass jars I purchased specifically for tea, c) reused (and thoroughly washed) tea canisters, or d) purchased tea canisters.
You can get reasonably priced, if somewhat plain (but decoratable?), tea canisters (as well as more expensive ones ;) ) from stashtea.com. If I remember correctly, some of my Stash canisters came with a deal of the day/week for buying a specific type of tea, though I don't know if they do that any more.
Oooh that's perfect! Thank you for the link! I looked on etsy but didn't find something I like with the right size, and I didn't think of Amazon! I think I will just take some jars like this and decorate them for the different types of teas. :)
You're welcome, and glad to help a fellow tea hoarder! ;)
I don't know anything about that company from Amazon or those jars I linked specifically, by the way, but I hope you end up with a super-cute tea stash. ;D
I use airtight see-through containers. The last time I tried a normal box ants got to it, but then again it was strawberry tea so maybe they were attracted to the sweet scent D=

But these ones with decoration may be ok, thank you. :)

Some of my favorite jars for small amounts of tea are kind of like this: http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Glass-Candy-Jar-Lid/dp/B00D6HHMPA
...although mine are tilted, and the lids are colors.
