Help me complete my first coord!

Sep 16, 2014 20:37

I'm so excited to be working on my first-ever coordinate, after so many years of admiring the fashion! I think it's going very well, but I have some questions for you all.

Hi nice to meet you. I'm also a new lolita so I'm still learning but this is my opinion ( ... )

I love your idea for a bow instead of a necklace; I'll definitely think about that. Those are also good ideas for tights. Thanks for the input!

The blouse looks fine in fit and design, but it seems the skirt is on backwards? The lacing should be up your back and not your front :3

For the shoes, you could bring out the pinky tones of your skirt by changing the laces out for some chiffon ribbon. I think some off-white white or cream OTKs with roses up the side would look nice if you were to do so.

I think it's great you asked for con-crit. Never give up! <3

On the lacing: it depends on the design. I have seen skirts with lacing in the front and back.

True that it sort of depends, but it looks like it's shirred along the middle, which is something usually worn on the back? Then again, I could be wrong about it being shirred altogether. In which case, ignore that thought, ikaelamay!

I think this is the right way to wear the skirt, because that's how the model wears it. Also, it has shirring on the other side. Thank you though. ^^

That's such a great idea for the shoe laces! I wouldn't have thought of that. I'll also look around for some OTK's like you described to consider. Thanks!

The blouse works nicely, but I think an ivory/off white blouse would look even better. I think the tights would look best if they match the blouse, and for a hair accessory, I think a floral accessory or a canotier would look best, but a small bow would be nice for a more casual look.

The blouse actually is off-white, though it does look very white in the picture. I think that's because the skirt is far from white, and maybe also because of the camera flash.

I was also thinking that a floral headdress would be best! I'm actually not familiar with canotiers. When I Google "canotier" it seems to be a little straw hat, but when I Google "canotier lolita" it looks like a little lacy circle on a ribbon. I guess that's probably what it is in lolita, then? Thanks for the idea!

Edit: I mean I'm not familiar with the term "canotier"...I have seen them before. :)

I'm not really sure where the term canotier came from, but they are sometimes referred to as round headdresses. You're welcome! :)

The blouse looks fine for Lolita, but with this particular skirt I would look into an ivory/beige blouse instead because it's the tone of your skirt. For shoes you could look for a salmon-y pink, but if you have ivory shoes they could do the job, if you change your blouse for ivory. Pure white + ivory is not a very good colour scheme. If you change your colour for ivory I would also look into switching the necklace for something else as it is pure white. Maybe a pocket watch on a necklace could do the job.

For accessories I would look for an ivory bonnet or canotier. Another option would be a straw hat with salmon-y pink flowers or ivory flowers with an ivory lace ribbon.

The thing is, the shirt is off-white! Anyway, it's much less white than other shirts I tried. Also, the necklace is actually pink, and matches the skirt nicely. ^^ But I think the camera flash washed out all the color. Maybe it did the same thing to the blouse.

I actually do have a pocket watch on a necklace! I'll try that as well. Thanks!

I think you can wear those blouse & skirt together. But then I would wear socks or tights in the same color like the blouse. I would go for white lace tights, so your coord would be not too white overall.

In the picture it looks like the blouse fits you perfectly ^^

I would wear a necklace which is really close to your neck, like a choker. For example: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=20276671
Since the collar of your blouse is very dominant, I suggest a more dominant necklace. Your necklace might be too thin ^^

For hair accessoires, I suggest to use the colors of your blouse or skirt, like white, pink, orange, beige. For example you could use some flowers.

A choker is a good idea! It probably would look better than a long necklace. And that's along the lines of what I was thinking for hair accessories. Thanks!
