AP's new ordering through Tenso (Australian's, a question about I.D)

Apr 15, 2014 03:54

Heya all :) I just registered for the new AP site + Tenso. But its saying on the site (and from blog posts around the new recently) that we'll need some form of I.D to prove who we are (on Tenso). I'm not 100% sure about this, makes me feel uneasy :S ( Read more... )

I sent a photo of my drivers license and received an email a few days later saying it was confirmed. I feel like AP wouldn't suggest or endorse a service that wasn't 100% secure so you will be okay :) You could probably just use a regular shopping service instead of tenso though if you are still feeling uneasy about it.

Well, I'm sure Tenso itself is legit, Liz Lisa has been using them for years. However, when you send something like that through the internet, virtually anybody can intercept it. As well, if Tenso stores your ID (which I'm sure they have to for insurance purposes and repeat customers) anybody who could hack into Tenso's database could steal your ID that way. It's never ever a good idea to send any kind of copy of your ID to anybody online period and and even less good idea to let a company store said ID. I would never do it. I honestly think that AP threw out a great system and replaced it with one that puts all of its overseas customers at risk for fraud. It's sad.

Is this exclusively an Australian thing for Tenso? You have a right to feel concerned, nothing you post online is 100% secure. But that tiny chance shouldn't make you worry too much, unless you are an interesting character. :p

I think it is really pigheaded and backwards that AP is using this meddlesome (invasive?) service for its international customers, but okay I won't go off on that. Just use a Costco/pool/school ID?

All that register have to give identification ^^
I am more concerned that ap is only taking credit cards as payment method =/ and ditched paypal ...

Apparently you need proof of address so you can't use such an ID. Needs to be a government issued ID, which is very dangerous- on the contrary you have a lot more to worry about if you AREN'T a "shady character".

It's like this for everyone.
For Russian buyers they also ask for a photo of your credit card. I haven't tried registering myself yet, but my friend did and ugh. I don't want to do that. I might trust Tenso not to be frauds, but are their databases secure? I don't to find myself on some Interpol list or whatever. Jesus.

I did that once years ago, when I got my first credit card and was anxious to buy Japanese stuff - figurines, I think. Ugh, how stupid, it's a miracle nothing happened. :(

I have made an account but haven't send a verification yet. I don't think I ever will, I'd rather go with a shopping service like chibi-tenshi then. Tenso is probably a trustworthy company but I'm not really waiting to have my ID all over the internet, might something go wrong.

phew glad i'm not alone, i feel the exact same way [high fives]

for those who are gonna send their IDs, i suggest blurring all the other info on your cards?
everything but name/dob/current address

I suppose that's a thing, but I'm not sure whether they'll accept that. I think I'll pass on Tenso and just buy with an SS.
