How fast do the prices of popular pieces rise on average?
For example, how much would the price of a JSK rise in one year? Two years?
Would the piece have an extremely huge increase right off the bat or would that take a couple of years?

(I'm particularly interested in AatP's Elizabeth Empress of Death/Bride of Death JSK I in Rosario/red current ( Read more... )

It depends on the piece, the rarity, the size, the starting price, if it's easily damaged, etc.... so it's hard to track, but there is a basic curve from what I've seen. When things first come out, if they sell out very quickly, they are worth more than the retail price (let's call it Y), at some value (let's call it X) which is based on the demand versus the supply and lasts a couple weeks to a couple months. Once the season ends, the price drops below X. If the piece was only mildly popular, the price can drop below Y. Up until the middle of same season the next year, the price can be in a low phase, from there it starts to go up ( ... )

It depends on how madly popular the print is where you're stalking it for. I don't think the price for Elizabeth has appreciated that much on the Western market, but don't look for it on the Japanese auctions right now because (if I recall correctly) I have seen that precise JSK you want going for over 100k yen there.

There is a cream one just sitting on mbok for 65,000円 that no one is buying.

Oh, in that case the price must have peaked back then. Good to see.

Going for 100,000 yen doesn't mean it gets bought though. There's an AP dress going for 200,000 yen that's been up for over a year that nobody's bought, as well as a few other retardedly priced pieces, like a honey cake set for 85,000.

This is the last sale I can find, it's in blue but still gives you an idea. It's the full set with bonnet and unused socks and it went from 69,000 yen on July 14th. http://www.mbok.jp/item/item_412604212.html
