UK customs and lucky packs

Jun 27, 2013 00:25

Hello dear lolis

I'm hoping Innocent world will do their usual summer lucky packs and I want to buy one.
Seeing that the last time I've been stabbed to death by customs in Spain I searched about customs in the UK (I moved here recently). And the fee is quite similar but I don't know if the packages fall very often ( Read more... )

lucky packs: other, lucky packs: innocent world

You will definitely get hit by customs (VAT) unless it's marked down and as gift, as far as I know. Although it may not be worth the risk, and sometimes customs will nose through your things and decide to charge you anyway if they think the value is marked incorrectly (I've had this with a Bodyline sale order). Also most delivery companies will expect an extra fee if customs are involved because they pay the customs charge for you and you have to pay them back before delivery.

Do they charge you much more if they think it's marked incorrectly?

I guess that I'll take the risk with smaller items and buy bigger purchases through SS just in case.

Thanks =)

Customs here are really strict and be incredibly hit or miss when it comes to things being hit.
No matter what the value, size or what its marked as, it has the possibility of getting stopped.
Marking this as gift is no guarantee of them getting through.
I've had tiny packages stopped but gigantic ball joint dolls and parasols get through.

Beware of the parcelforcefarce £13ish handling fee for anything from Japan as well.

Generally, assume things will be stopped and count potential fees into the purchasing cost.
The only way to avoid customs fees is to buy from within Europe.

How high do you think is the chance to be stopped? Like 50% more?less?
I'm asking because in Spain anything over 30 pounds fall almost always nowadays
2 years before you could take a risk but now you buy things with your custom fees calculated and prepared.

And I've always been complaining about AP Paris overpriced stuff. For once is going to be cheaper to buy there than buying in the international page and paying the customs for that

Just so you know you still get custom fees on items marked as gifts but the amount is different.
I've only been hit with customs once on a small bodyline package so fortunately it wasn't too expensive. I think it was £12 custom fees for £26 shoes, because of the handling fee the delivery company charges.

Then I'll probably buy through a SS so they can mark it as a gift and down the price. If I buy an almost 400 pounds LP I'd be more likely to pay 100 pounds for fees than 200.

Thank you :)

From my experience if you buy anything over the value of £15 it will get hit by customs almost every time. Even items marked as a gift can get customs if the value is more than £35? Or thereabouts and sometimes they will not believe a package marked as a gift is a gift and will charge it anyway. I'd use a shopping service or a forwarding service like Tenso.

Does Tenso mark down the prices? I thought they just provide you a japanese address for those shops that don't have overseas service

You can declare whatever value you like if you use Tenso or you can use FromJapan is a good shopping service to if you want to buy from an online store, you can also declare whatever value you like with them as well.
