I don't think a belt would look too good, considering how the dresses are structured. I think a really good bet would be to wear a cardigan that is longer, perhaps. A white one would be really cute.
What prints are these, and how tall are you, if you don't mind my asking? (Sorry, I don't keep up with sweet lolita things at all.) These seem to be empire-waisted dresses which do not suit the taller girls (myself included). My best advice, which you may not want to hear, would be to avoid this cut altogether, if you want something that will flatter your natural waist. Dresses that go to the natural waist are good for us, as well as skirt/blouse coordinates.
They are replicas of sugary carnival and sheep garden i think. I believe they are supposed to sit at the natural waist of someone shorter. I am roughly 5 ft 11 inches so i had these custom made to be proper length. Maybe I could make a skirt out of them OTL.
These dresses are both made as empire waist dresses. Or at least they look like it to me. I too have a Sugary Carnival Replica and it's an empire waist on me as well. I really enjoy empire waist dresses though so I'm not quite sure what to suggest. They look really nice on you though, even without them reaching your natural waist. I'd say just wear them as is.
these look like empire waisted. perhaps a very wide belt? It might help to pull the waist down. they also look like replicas, so maybe you should of requested them to be made longer in the torso? I think they look nice, but I suppose it's up to you to decide which cut you like on you. worse comes to worse, you now know which cut to avoid in the future.
I think it is mainly because i am so tall. Is there any belt you might be able to recomend? Most the ones i see on ebay are kind of not really lolita appropriate. (The weird thing is i did include my bust to waist measurement but i guess since i didn't request it they didn't really make it that way. D=) Thank you!
Actually I really love non-lolita items in lolita. It makes coordinates look unique and different from all the others. In fact, I love ebay for cool cheap accessories! Let me see if I can find something really quick! I myself use wide waist belts when i want to change the look of an empire dress.
And I did a wonderful coord with it the other day that just looked fantastic, however I didn't get any pictures of it. However I plan to wear it that way again sometime soon and when I do I'll be sure to get a photo of it :) and link it to you if I remember.
