What do YOU do for a living?

I personally work in an electronic retailer and have done so for about two and a half years. It's not a great job but at least it's something better than unemployment. I've been thinking about what career path I can take for too long and I still haven't decided ( Read more... )

I work as a techie in higher education. I've been doing this for a few years now. It is not what I studied for, or ever envisioned I would do, but I do enjoy my job. Even when things aren't working perfectly there's certainly never a dull day!

I have been known to wear lovely frills to work before, and only ever got positive feedback about it - I wear mostly classic though, so it doesn't raise as many eyebrows as an oot sweet outfit might, lol.
If I was told I couldn't wear my classic outfits to work anymore, I would certainly question it, as they are much more appropriate and modest than a lot of the stuff I see others wear everyday, but it would likely not be enough to make me look for other employment. I have visible tattoos and those are allowed where I work, which is something I know a lot of people can't say.

If I could do anything, anything at all, money no object, I would open up my own Bed and Breakfast. I'd likely wear loli everyday then!

Good luck in your search for a fulfilling career path! :)

I work two jobs, I'm a part-time games retailer and comic artist who works at home. I'll soon be leaving my retail job to draw comics full time, I want to be a full-time comics artist, preferably at DC comics. I've worked with some fantastic DC writers already (Gail Simone, Sterling Gates) but have yet to work on a DC title.
I don't wear Lolita at my retail job because we have a uniform and I don't wear it while working at home because as soon as I crawl out of bed I want to start drawing straight away, and when I dress in Lolita it takes me hours to get ready. (Hair, make-up, etc. etc.) So I save Lolita for Lolita meets, special occasions and Dungeons and Dragons sessions with friends.

I'm a food service manager. It has its days, but I really wish I got to do the hiring, rather than my boss, as some of our employees really don't take their job seriously at all, and its a struggle to get them to cooperate.

I am in my last year of school so in the future I am hoping to have a better, more higher-paying job.

Sounds like you're in the same situation as I am. I hate the people I work with, so many highschool kids who just don't care. It's very frustating.

Good luck in the future!

OMG it sounds like my job too! I work in a cafe, in the kitchen and my boss hires only "interesting" people she can chat to, but they are shit at work. That makes my job miserable as noone is taking this work seriously. Feels like college rather than work... :(

I quit my job over a year ago to be a full time care giver to my sister who passed away last November so now I'm just a at home mostly unpublished writer. So I'm living the dream thanks so my husband who is a software engineer.

Oh and i'm working on getting in to grad school.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister, but I'm happy that you're okay financially even though you had to quit your job.

I'm currently part time employed at my school and a full time student. When I graduate I'll be heading to dental school, which I am really happy and excited about! I know and am ready to put lolita (and cosplay, my other loved hobby) on hold for the 4 years I need to focus on dental study, but I will probably resume it once I graduate as a doctor. I don't plan on mixing lolita with my work at all, it would be very unprofessional. It'll just be something I do on the side to keep myself happy^^

Wow! Dentistry sounds very tough, but I'm sure you'll be very succesful if you're willing to give up some of your hobbies yo do well in school. =]

Dentistry is tough, just like medicine, but it will be worth it in the end^^ For me, being a doctor means you have to be willing to sacrifice your interests sometimes for the better of your patients.
