Theme Post: My Wardrobe

Jan 31, 2011 21:52

I've been confined to bed for the past week, so I figured, why not take a photo of every single lolita item I own?

My landlady's been promising to replace the light in my closet for ages, but she never seems to remember to call the electrician. I have to go in there with a flashlight at night just to see my clothes XD

My wardrobe is pretty small both in terms of space and content, and I don't really have many popular prints or super-interesting pieces. I love collecting weird, offbeat pieces from my favourite brands instead. I'm especially fond of dresses that resemble couches, haha. As for style... I more or less consider myself a sweet lolita, though I've been told that my idea of "sweet" is either in line with a 2004 GLB article, or just totally wrong.

Anyways, on to the clothes and my boring commentary~

OPs
I'm not a big fan of OPs, since I feel that it's hard to mix stuff up with them. Well, that, and they never fit right ;_;

Bodyline Gingham OP

My lazy-day dress. It's really comfortable and sturdy, so I wear it on the days that I want to wear lolita, but don't want to go all-out.

AATP Hymn OP

One of my absolute dream dresses (that I almost didn't get). It's so nice that I rarely have occasion to wear it, and it doesn't really fit me that well, but I just can't bear to get rid of it.

AP Romantic Bouquet OP

Though this dress came out in 2007, it's always looked really old-school to me. It has a lot of the details that drew me to lolita in the first place. And also it's got a bit of a couch-floral print going on XD

JSKs
JSKs used to be my favourite lolita item- I think they're easier to co-ordinate than both OPs and skirts, and there are so many cute cuts and styles in JSKs.

AP Royal Tailored JSK

One of my favourite dresses, and the original sofa JSK. I still can't get over the fact that it's a dress with fringe.

AP Gingham JSK

I'm kind of meh about this JSK, but it's a nice basic. I'll probably make the bows detachable and put something else in their place when next winter rolls around, but for right now it's probably going to sit in my closet- we've already had temperatures in the 80's here.

AP Sweet Jam JSK

I originally hated this print, but it's grown on me- especially after I read that the top was made to look like a jam jar! The idea was so cute that I couldn't resist.

JM Paper Doll Gobelin JSK

I wore this JSK through most of this winter and last- it's so comfortable and the print is absolutely adorable. Also, it reminds me of a couch that a friend's grandmother used to have XD

BTSSB Tartan Princess JSK

I recently purchased this with a friend, and I'm quite excited to wear it come spring! It's also my first bustle-back piece, haha.

BTSSB Blooming Snow White JSK

This is probably the most-worn piece in my closet. I think every lolita I know has seen me in it at least once. It's just so versatile, and I still haven't run out of ways to wear it!

BTSSB Alice and the Looking-Glass of Time JSK

Another comfy favourite of mine. I love that this one can be dressed down or dressed up, depending on what you put underneath. I'm also not a big fan of accessories, so I really like the fact that the pearl straps on this one provide an instant accessory.

AATP Pirate Alice JSK

I've wanted this JSK ever since it came out, so I feel really fortunate to have it. I love, love, love the Tenniel-inspired pirate illustrations on the border print (though I'm still waiting for the day that a brand comes out with a JSK that incorporates the one where Alice is carrying a pig... one day, maybe).

AATP Chain Bouquet JSK

Another really versatile dress. I've been using this as my default "fancy" dress ever since I got it- even my parents, who have mocked lolita ever since I got into it, think this is a nice dress. I'm totally obsessed with this print, too, and I desperately want to buy the blue OP version of it!

AATP Beardsley Rose Alice JSK

This print combines two of my favourite things- Alice in Wonderland, and Aubrey Beardsley. I just need an Edward Gorey print and my life will be complete.

AATP Vampire Requiem JSK

I absolutely love this JSK. The print is fantastic, the cut is flattering, and I am in love with the burgundy color.

Skirts
Bodyline Princess Skirt

I used to have this skirt in, like, five colors, but I don't like the length of it much. I've been halfheartedly trying to sell this one for months but with no success- it's obviously meant to be.

Bodyline Poodle Replica Skirt

To be honest, I kind of prefer this one to the original XD Though, like most of Bodyline's skirts, I find it a bit longer than I like.

Bodyline Cream Floral Skirt

I originally planned a classic lolita co-ordinate with this skirt, but I've only ever worn it casually. It's a great, low-key interpretation of couch florals.

Bodyline White Skirt

I don't usually like wearing white, but this is so light and comfortable that I'm more or less okay with it.

h.naoto Long Skirt

The lone gothic piece in my wardrobe (I more or less consider everything else sweet, with maybe one or two classic pieces thrown in there). It was a recent purchase, and I'm still not sure what to think of it.

Atelier-Pierrot Corset Skirt

This skirt is just beyond beautiful. Fit is awesome, cut is awesome, everything about it is just awesome, and the fullness puts AP's skirts to shame. I'd love to buy more in this style, and maybe take a break from looking like a couch to trying out a circus ringmaster (Oddly, that's the first thing that corset skirts make me think of).

Pink Macaroon Unicorn Fantasy Skirt

I was lucky enough to buy this off the sales community from someone who had a similar waist measurement, and after a bit of button-adjusting it was a perfect fit! I'm really hoping this brand comes out with more soon, because I'd love to buy another of their prints.

Meta Camo Skirt

This skirt is just typical Meta to me- weird, but fantastic.

BTSSB Halloween Skirt

The underbust JSK of this print was one of the first dresses that I just had to have when I was starting lolita, but I settled for the skirt after months of not finding it because I loved the print so much.

AATP Masquerade Theatre Skirt

I'm usually not a fan of skirts, but I felt like AATP's designers ruined a great print with a mediocre design with the JSK and OP- so I opted for this version instead. I'm glad I did, though this one still needs a couple of alterations so it's just been languishing in my closet lately.

AP Fruits Parlour Tiered Skirt

I love AP's tiered skirts, but they have yet to put another one out in a print that I actually like XD In the meantime, though, I wear this skirt all the time because it's so easy to co-ordinate.

AP Melody Doll Skirt

Another entry in the "Prints I love but can't find the dress version of" series. I want the long-sleeved OP quite badly (largely because it's got a cape), but I can't seem to find it.

Shirley Temple Corduroy Deer Skirt

I got this for about $20 on Y!J because the original owner had written her daughter's name on the inner tag. Not that I minded, because other than that the skirt was perfect. Thanks, マキノアイさん!

Shirley Temple Swan Skirt

Another item that I wear entirely too much. You can't tell from the photo, but there are little silver accents and jewels all around the swan.

Shirley Temple Paris Poodle Skirt

I hate dogs, but I love this skirt. I'm still not sure why.

Blouses/Cutsews/Boleros
Until recently, I rarely wore blouses with lolita and preferred cutsews, cardigans, and boleros. I now have multiple white blouses and I don't know what to do with myself.

AP Pink Jewel Jabot Blouse

Jabots are another random detail that I really enjoy in an article of clothing.

BTSSB White Long-Sleeved Blouse

I felt like the time was right to finally invest in a long-sleeved white blouse- after two years wearing lolita, and just in time for the hot season XD I've also recently purchased two more. You can never have too much of a good thing, amirite?

IW Long-Sleeved Blouse

I got this in an LP a while back, and while I never would have bought it for myself it's become one of my most-worn pieces.

Cream High-Collared Blouse

This was commissioned from talia_speaks ages ago, and it's held up quite well. It only took a whole four months to get to me XD

Black High-Collared Blouse

From the same commissioner as above, and took nearly as long to get to me. Considering the price I paid and the frequency with which I wear it, I think it was probably worth the wait.

IW Blouse-Cutsew Thinger

It's made of cutsew material, but has stiff, blouse-fabric-like collars- what does that make it? I don't really care, though, because it's a great versatile piece that has three different collars for pairing with different outfits.

Moitie Cutsew

So pretty, and I love black and white.

BTSSB Basic Cutsew

Just a basic cutsew from an LP. I only keep it around because I have yet to find a good puff-sleeve T-shirt from an offbrand source.

BTSSB Rosemary's Baby Cutsew

Cute, but creepy. I especially like the little shredded teddy bear near the bottom.

White IW Bolero

At the time I purchased this, I didn't own any white tops- so this was a godsend. It's also super comfortable.

Black IW Bolero

I loved the white one so much, I had to buy it in another color.

h.Jelly Bolero

Pink x black has been a favourite color combination of mine lately, so this was a perfect buy!

Jane Marple Card Suit Cardigan

Everyone I know thinks this is vaguely weird and old-lady-ish, but that kind of just makes me like it more.

Coats
I love outerwear. At last count, I owned about 30 non-lolita coats and jackets. Unfortunately, lolita outerwear is a little cost-prohibitive :c When I graduate college, I hope to have a closet full of decadent, frilly coats. Haha.

Bodyline Houndstooth Jacket

I bought this coat with the intention of turning it into an AP-style decoed confection, but now that winter's over I just can't work up the motivation to do it XD It's still a cute, basic coat as-is.

IW Alice Tartan Coat

I wish that everything I owned went with red-and-green tartan, because this is a fantastic coat. Sadly, red x green x pink is not exactly a great color combo.

Other Articles of Clothing
IW Bustier

Another item from an LP that I didn't know I wanted until I had it.

JM Grey Suit

The skirt isn't exactly lolita, but the jacket's cut is just perfect for wearing with lolita pieces that actually hit at or above your waist.

JM Fur-trimmed Set

The skirt, again, isn't great for lolita- but I get a ton of mileage out of that fur capelet. And also, it's the ultimate in couchlike clothing.

JM Matryoshka Apron

I way overpaid for this, but there are Matryoshka dolls on it. I couldn't say no.

Accessories
I have a lot more accessories, but most of them aren't lolita-specific so I figured I'd spare you from my boring jewelry, tights, and bags. And as for shoes... I briefly considered adding them in, but I'm sure everyone's seen enough pairs of tea party shoes by now and the remainder of my shoes are loliable at best.

Socks

First image: Top row is all BTSSB, fourth pair on the second row is AP, everything else is offbrand.
Second image: Top row is offbrand, bottom row is BTSSB
The AP pair is my current favourite- it's hard to beat fur-trimmed anything in my book.

Hair Accessories

I have more of these than I thought >.> The only ones really worth mentioning ATM are the bunny earmuffs- I wish they weren't so warm so I could wear them all year round! They're the one crazy item that I absolutely love.

Bodyline House Bag

Not as cute as the original, but I like it.

Atelier-Pierrot Carriage Tote

The print on this is absolutely gorgeous. I'm still trying to come up with a black x sax outfit for it, though!

On the way...

Angelic Pretty Wonder Party OP

This is a little bit more extreme than my usual style, but this has been one of my favourite prints for a while and I can't wait to get it!

Anyways, that's all for my wardrobe! Thanks for looking!
