A question about parasols...

Nov 21, 2010 23:48

I recently bought a black AP parasol, and was planning on bringing it out with me tomorrow while it rains. My question is...will the applique and print run if it gets wet? I know of some designs that other owners have that run due to water exposure ( Read more... )

A friend of mine has an AP parasol and it can be used in the rain. However that one was bought 2 years ago.
I used my Baby parasol for rainy days as well, and there were no problems at all.
I don't know which parasol you own though, AP only lists umbrellas at the moment. =)

Ah, all the APs are umbrella/parasols, as they can work both ways.
Hm...I wonder if they way they've printed their umbrellas has changed in the last two years.

I've heard of some of the more intricately-printed Baby/AatP parasols running when used as an umbrella...I wonder if it's just the ones that use a lot of printing as opposed to plain material..

Thank you for commenting! 8D Now I know a little more..~

Not to butt in, but I have an AP parasol that can't be used in the rain.

>< no worries~ But that's interesting! Was it from a while ago? Or recently? It seems like the ones in stock right now are dual-abilitied. (is that a word? hahahah...) ~

My Meta parasols both ran, but my AP one hasn't. I suggest if you're unsure, to wipe the printed area dry before folding it up.

Thank you for your input! ; u; I took your suggestion and wiped it off before I closed it. A little did come off when I wiped it, but I'm glad it didn't stain my parasol. :> Yay~

Hmm, I'm not quite sure. I have an AatP parasol, and used it MANY times in the rain, and it's fine.

I actually didn't even know AP had parasols! Dumb English site...

Oh! I've always wanted an AatP parasol...though when I go to the SF store they're always conveniently sold out.

Right now AP has a couple, it's strange to navigate because the parasol/umbrellas are in the bag section or something like that. They only have a couple selections though, as opposed to their Japan site.

Ooh! *goes to look*

I got it in Baby's Paris store. Ahh, it was so lovely there...

And it was the only thing I could afford. XD

This isn't helpful to the OP, but some of the older BABY parasols had logos that would stain areas the logo rubbed if you closed the umbrella while it was wet. This was a couple years ago - they may have fixed it by now, because I don't think I've heard any recent complaints. (Mine was off-white with a gold logo, which did stain a tiny bit. It seemed to have stopped after the extra ink wore off, I guess?)

The trick seems to be that you shouldn't have any issues if you towel off the water before closing the umbrella after using it in the rain, from everything I've read and my own experience.
