Brolitas

What are your thoughts (if any) on males who dress in Lolita clothes? Just curious.

If wearing lolita makes you happy, it doesn't matter what gender you are.

Today I'm wearing my new F+F cutsew. Because of the cold, I didn't go full brolita today. I did put on some other things and took some photos for a review that I'll be writing up later. For the first time, I felt happy looking at myself in the mirror. For that reason, you are absolutely correct.

If you're looking for negative reactions, you'll be disappointed - probably 99% of EGL is very supportive of brolitas and make the effort to make it a safe space for them in the community. The only reasons people are against it is usually due to personal issues with homophobia (which is silly, because male crossdressers are usually straight lol), which is also something not encouraged on EGL.

Actually, it is usually related to transphobia. Though, usually the two go together.

Yeah, it's usually the same thing for bigoted/ignorant people who consider themselves 'normal' - if you're a guy wearing girly/girl's clothes, you're gaaaaay, and thus worth degrading in their eyes. Such dimwit people often can't even handle the concept of trans people. :P

IMO it usually becomes pure transphobia when it involves people who should otherwise know better - e.g. actual lesbian/gay people who still denigrate trans folks. It's depressing how common it is.

It is part of the reason getting into this has been difficult for me. I'm getting stronger, and better. My wardrobe is also getting bigger too, which makes this easier. Encountering transphobes has really made me want to hide away. It is frustrating when I just want to be me.

I'm cool with having nice brolitas at meetups. I've always been a fan of that sort of thing. Have you ever been to a drag show or watched Rupauls Drag Race? It's almost an art form the way they do it.

Drag is a performance art for sure, but crossdressing (which is what brolitas do) aren't. X) A drag artist crossdresses, but a crossdresser isn't necessarily a drag queen.

I don't think I ever said that cross dressing was a performance art or that brolitas were drag queens. There's a clear difference between the two that one would be aware of if they've ever been to a drag show and had the chance to meet brolitas, which I said I have. Interesting extrapolation there.....

Sorry, there was sort of a logic gap in your comment, I didn't mean to accuse. Your comment went straight from 'brolitas are fine, I'm a fan of that kind of thing' to 'have you been to drag shows?' so it was a little too easy to read the comment as corrolating brolita with drag, as opposed to your clarifying that someone that sees both can start seeing a clear difference. Someone who isn't as versed in that culture could easily read the original comment as such, and it's a very common misconception.
