Yep, I left in February. Despite making myself more marketable, I couldn't find any interest from other departments in taking a guy like me, so I looked outside the company. I wish I had done it earlier since my new employer opened this new regional office a year ago, and I could be one of the more senior reps by now. Now I actually have to work to impress!

Good news about your phone. The worst thing I've ever washed has been my wallet. Though you almost had me distracted at the point where you said that you stripped off all of your clothes.

;-)

And I hope that things go well at the new job, with your gays and your gruff boss.

Things are going well at work, I'm just nervous about things that are new and different - it's normal for me.

I think washing your wallet could be worse, if things get destroyed, paper and plastics and such.

I strip off my clothes at least once a day, if not more.

I've not done sales and marketing full time either. I worked on contract last year for a crisis consulting firm. I was expected to make 70 cold calls a day and follow up with 70 emails. I couldn't do it. Taking 70 calls is far different than making 70 calls. In my current job, I'm on a conference call every morning with various regional folk. I'm expected to know our census (how many in the building), how many Medicare and Managed care (a much higher level of reimbursement), how many people are in the hospital and their status financially and clinically and the dates my Medicare residents will discharge from services. I also have to report deaths .. for my building, 6 in two weeks and 13 this year. This part gets glossed over. My ratio of referrals to admissions is over 85%. My ratio of sales calls to referrals is 13%. I'm geographically isolated. But when I get a referral, I excel in bring the person to the building. This is my long-winded way of encouraging you ... You are responding to people already with accounts or interested in ( ... )

Thanks Neil!

I'm a worrier, so anytime I get a new challenge I go through this mess. I'll sort it out, and so far my calls have been getting good reviews. One good thing is unlike your job, I can hang up and never hear from these people again, in most cases!

The Denton County Bears have pretty good events, nice and relaxed. You should come up for one!
