Yesterday I decided to test my car and actually run out on the ice, making the 25 mile trip to work. The car did alright, especially going over the Bush Turnpike, where a long stretch of it is elevated over the Trinity River. There was plenty of ice and snow, and there was more than a few cars on the side of the road, in ravines, and turned ( Read more... )

I've found that most people are pretty much apathertic. Many of these people are long timers, so I guess they've seen it all. I wasn't suprised at this, but I'm thinking it doesn't really show they value these employees, and the employes should think about the fact that even though they've been around the block, the company could easily cut them. I think many feel they have tenure. Not a smart thing.

They think saftey is putting them up in a nearby hotel so they are available for work, as they don't care that these people have families to take care of.

I'm thinking that there really hasn't been a lot of morale in a long time. The company looks at production over people, like most do, but here management really doesn't ry to get people involved, or even let them have a say in what goes on. I'm strongly against that, and I'm starting to make a fuss about it. I'm not totally sure it's a great idea, but I've been the loudmouth and the naysayer before, and I don't mind doing it again.

I did go in Saturday to get a lot of paperwork off my desk, so it was a good thing. I hope I'll like my check for doing it. We avoided getting more snow and ice this weekend, so it was OK.

As for monday, that's a new week, so nope, it doesn't count. It would be nice though. You don't deal with customers on the weekend.
