Wow, lady. That's insane.

It's funny that writing it down actually makes it more bearable. I can see making progress on drafting one pattern a week and still being able to make something for myself.

*hugs* I can understand that. Usually when I start to feel underwater, I make a list too.

Damn woman, you busy. All of these sound so pretty too, especially the Italian petticoat. What's this about removing the bust curve, though? Isn't it normally just smushed into flatness by the right corset?

Also, that was me.

I was going to try the very flat front style, so a corset and padding combo. I won't be using fabric quite as RAD as Laurie's (I'm not at her level by any stretch), but I want to try the style for if I find any brocade that looks amazing.

Even with the most judicious use of corsets, I still find my breast want to spill out the top in addition to having an under bust curve.

That's a lot of work, but I'm sure you'll ace all of it :-)

That my dear, is encouraging words. I was pleased that one of my last mock- ups would have worked right off the board. Naturally I want to tweak and fuss with them anyway. ;-)

instead of padding out the bodice to avoide bust curve, could you put a second lining layer that is fitted to your corset shape and then put horizontal boning in it. Think about some of those "bust improvers" and even some 18th cent corsets use a similar effect as well.
Have you tried the moon sausages in your stays trick?

Just throwing out other ideas, feel free to ignore.

I've never tried the crescents since the one I made I didn't droop too much into. It was a lucky stroke, but sadly poor materials made those stays explode. Mabye a real busk would be a good idea, too. The Fitting Room offers them in a 12 inch length. I wonder if that would sufficiently flatten the front combined with a bit of inner padding.

just ideas to play with. what ever padding you use, try not to use poly, that just sounds hot!

This is true. While in the middle of winter it would also likely be cold. How does one fiber fail so miserably at human comfort?

thud.

That would be my jaw dropping at the amount of work you are planning.

Whoa.

Some of these tasks would have been easier with a complete measurement set, I will say. Learning sucks sometimes. :)
