Have you seen the movie Woman In Gold? It's about the Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. 😀

Yes, but it's been a while. I remember it as being good. This is that painting!

My friend who paints starting with a base and adding colours (like you did a few days ago) deliberately uses a very limited palette and mixing her colours too. It is painterly, but I like your colour choices better. I definitely see the Klimt influence in this one.

Thanks. I did go to art school long ago but as time passed I've come to ignore more and more of what I learned! It's nice to incorporate some of those things again.

-i'm a Klimt lover!!

Mt T a noted painter - taught our oil classes

did the same thing to us

set up a still life and told us what colors to put on our palette - Now Paint

by the end of the semester - The Challenge

the all one color still life - Now Paint!!

he was teaching us to see

the best compliment i received from him

the still life had a plaster cast of a foot

most students were doing it solid whites and greys

i had shades of other colors

he said "You painted that to a fair-thee-well"

(his favorite expression lol)"

I'm not sure i understood what he meant at the time.

i've always been able to see colors

Klimt's painting surfaces are so rich! In detail and color. I'm lucky that I can generally recognize and amplify the colors I see too. Fare-thee-well usually means a goodbye. Maybe he meant you succeeded in getting to the end of succeeding!

cold id be" fair"??
anyway it was Mr T's favorite and he used it as an meaning of very good or the best
he would use it in describing the work of other artists

ah ha i looked it up
as an adverb "fair" could mean to a high degree

but i think it was just an expression he used
probably from something he once read

I can see that you are quite skilled at this! It's "painterly."
