Since Florida people are 90% relocated Tri-staters, they're probably mad because they were told NY/NJ stinks, then they moved down here and have to hear the same complaint :p
Maybe I'd be annoyed too if someone identified a bathroom stench as Pennsylvania Smell. Though around where we live there is an oil smell in some woods that is pretty distinctive. Old Timey Oil Days Smell I call it.
Haha! For sure! I am from PA myself, and the high school in our town was next to a dog food factory. We kids modified our alma mater song to include a line about the stench!
I know just what you mean about the "Florida smell" - I noticed it too when I cycled through there. Although to be fair I've smelled similar smells in big cities where I guess it's coming from the sewers and also other hot, humid jungly type places elsewhere in the world. For some reason it bothers me less than the stench of big ag, in particular any kind of chicken/turkey barn in middle America or industrial packed cattle pens in Texas and Cali. Like you say, at least it smells like a dirty celebration of life as opposed to a meat prison slash poo factory.
Well, I just wrote a longish comment to you and then when I clicked to post it, everything disappeared. I wasn’t going to try and rewrite it, but then I decided to go ahead and try to remember all that I had written
