They took Dave by ambulance up to Erie early yesterday morning and got the heart catherization and stent placement done very quickly. By the time I arrived it was over and I could talk to the doctor. It all went well. But I was surprised at how closed off Dave's arteries were in those 2 spots. How did that happen? He (and I too) are on cholesterol ( Read more... )

Glad to hear he is doing okay! Sadly, it seems that kind of blockage isn’t totally predictable or preventable. Before my dad had his heart attack and quadruple bypass, he had shown zero signs of heart issues. He saw his doctor regularly and his cholesterol was fine. Poor Andy. It’s sweet he has a replacement lap.

Yeah, this seemed to come out of nowhere. That makes it seem more scary.

I'm glad that Dave is doing better, and Andy still has a lap. :-) *hugs*

It's good to hear that the procedure went well. Sometimes it's genetics. I have heart disease in my family. While I have high cholesterol and R's is low we ate the same. Best wishes on Dave's recovery.

I'm so glad the procedure went well!!! And what thoughtsbykat says above. To a large extent, it's genetic.

Sounds like the best possible scenario, though: They were able to give Dave what he needs efficiently and effectively before the situation could snowball into something more serious. And now Dave's aware that he has to be super careful.

Yes, we were hoping that he didn't take after his dad who had his first heart attack at age 45. But I guess he does. At least he got to 70 before having one.

Yes, it runs in the family I guess. Dave's dad had a heart attack for the first time at age 45 so at least Dave is doing better than that. Thanks.

Andy! My goodness. He thinks he’s a lap-puppy LOL. That’ll help your husband with a speedy recovery.

He does think he's a lap dog! For such a big dog it's funny. And Dave encourages it. I'm sure Dave'll be really glad to get home and have Andy by his side (and on his lap) again. :-)
