Love the trike and had thought about a recumbent, whether a trike or a bike (due to my back), but have been OK, upright and on two wheels, so far this year.
However, I must once again express my envy for the beautiful area you have to ride in and the amazing trail which lends itself so wonderfully to the recumbent trike.
Of course I say that as an exPAt, many years removed, so you understand that it's said with much more than just envy.
I realized today how much harder it is to push the trike - my legs got a lot more of a workout than I do on the bike and I was slower on the trike. BUT - the trike is so comfortable. It's a whole different kind of ride. When you get tired of pedaling the trike you just stop and rest - you don't need to get off to feel better like you do with a bike. You never feel discomfort on a recumbent. Today I was thinking about how lucky I am that I have both. The trike is good for going out alone and taking my time and the bike is better for biking with someone else when I might want to keep up with them.
I wish you could take a trip down this way again and bring your bike. :-)
Yeah, I'd really like to do that and I'd for sure bring my bike! My sisters are coming back East in July and one of their stops will be a family reunion in NW PA. But as for myself, I'm just not sure how well I'd travel these days and I've also come to feel anchored here in a way that I somehow need.
Odd for me because, although I've never been a "world traveler," I've never been averse to it either. Maybe it's a combination of aging, having to establish a life of my own the past few years, and the enforced isolation that they say we're coming out of. I dunno. We'll likely all have a lot to figure out...
