thinking about reading

I used to be a voracious reader when I was younger. Reading novels constantly. My first husband hated it that I read so much that he actually took my books away and hid them or destroyed them - thought I was ignoring him and reading too much. It was true - I was escaping. After the divorce my reading changed and I started to read "how to" books ( Read more... )

wow what an interesting collection of books!!

i alternate the "real books" aka non-fiction (lol)
with light novels which i call sorbet for my mind
i'm mainly a night reader - unless it's just too good to put down
i'm not much on the computer - i don't like to read from a screen

Wow! He took your books away? Unreal. What an asshole.

I usually read for three or four hours every day! I enjoy it. Is it an escape? From what, exactly? What would I be doing if I weren't reading? Watching television?

"Unreal. What an asshole." I totally agree with this comment. Although it might be said that, in my particular case, it takes one to know one. (Just taking belated ownership of my own history.)

I used to be a voracious reader when I was young, too. Even read the labels on bottles, tins and boxes of food. Read in the bath. Didn't read in vehicles because that made me car sick.

Your first husband was being very controlling and it's not surprising you split up with him.

I only read mostly at bedtime, now, but do an awful lot on my computer, too! For example, look things up.

Zucchinis and tomatoes will make a lovely dish!
