dad always called himself a tough old bird

I'm trying to work on that myself. I went biking with the grandboys tonight on the East Sandy Creek trail and it started to rain (finally) - it had been threatening to the whole time but we decided to go anyway. The sound of the thunder rolling over the hills and up the valleys sounded really neat. We mentioned it to each other afterwards. It wasn' ( Read more... )

Glad you're not hurt! It's good to be a tough old bird.

Whenever I came off the horse, I always used to like to lie there a bit to catch my breath before dusting myself off...

Oh yeah! A horse is a long way down! Am I still all there? Where exactly does it hurt and can it still move! :-)

That's what I thought. I was so glad that David saw him!

Gosh. I'm glad you weren't hurt! Must have looked dramatic to the boys, though!

And how nice to give that old man a lift! He's nearly as old as dad! Old people are prone to heat stroke. I hope he was okay!

I think you must be a tough old bird (and a nice-looking one, at that) AND made of rubber!

Yes, not a way you would like to see your grandmother! Laying in the dirt under a bush.

I hope he was okay too - have to believe he was. He was able to walk to his door okay and his speech was okay so I think he was going to be okay once he got inside.

So far so good!

Glad you are still not feeling any bruises or sore joints!

And I think that old man was all right. You and David Z were nice people :)

You described your fall so well that I could visualize it happening like movie. I'm so glad you weren't hurt. I have fallen five times and I always wanted to just lay there. There was no way I could have jumped up right away. I think things inside you get jostled or moved so much that you have to let them get settled back in their right places before you even attempt to get up.

The heat drains our energy and maybe he was dehydrated on top of that. I was seeing where your temps were higher than ours for a few days. Now I saw this morning you are back in the 70s. Nice!

It did seem like slow motion while I was going down.

It was very miserably hot here for a few days. So glad that Dave had put the AC in the window before it got really bad. That old man reminded me of Dad a lot. The way he walked when he got very old.
