yesterday and today

I had a good day yesterday. Had a good time sitting with Chloe at the gallery. We had a few visitors. One was a guy who knew both my sister and brother from high school. I remembered his name (sounded familial) but he didn't remember me - I was too young. You always remember the kids older than you in school - rarely the ones younger. He was ( Read more... )

Those tiles are so cool. I'd probably spend an hour there looking at each one. Thanks for posting the pics.

I might do a post someday, closer in, so you could actually see them. I thought about doing that yesterday but didn’t. There are at least a dozen old window frames filled this way.

That is a really lovely spot. I love little hidden corners of cities.

Pretty neat. Oil City is trying to have a renaissance and redefine itself as an art center now. It was a thriving city back in the days when the buildings on each side of the alley were originally built. Here’s an article about the building: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Transit_Building

The building was nothing like I imagined before I looked at the pictures. I guess I was thinking old wooden building!

Creative way to block up the old windows. Bringing the community together, hopefully.

Glad you had such a nice day out at the gallery!

In my reply to Siglinde I have a link to more about the buildings. They are the jewel of Oil City now. We live in an economically depressed area (now) but Oil City is trying to redefine itself as an arts center. It once was a very rich little city.

Your area is really interesting history-wise. I looked at the link. All those old brick buildings Joe_banks likes. He hardly posts on here, now. Towns in our outback are trying to attract tourists, too. Some are more successful than others.

That’s right about Joe. He is about 100 miles from me. No, haven’t heard from him for a while.
