soft roads are not so good

Sep 11, 2017 20:46

Candy and I biked 15 miles round trip today - nearly half of that distance on freshly graded old railroad bed. The road was "fluffy" and hard to push through - tires always sinking in a little. Not easy at all but we both wanted to make it to Leeper no matter what - and so we did. The freshly turned earth smelled very mucky in some spots. I liked ( Read more... )

Thanks again for keeping us up on what's going on with your sister. And I'm definitely envious of the amazing trails you have around you to hike and bike. I've thought about getting my old commuter bike out and getting it refurbished, for some much-needed aerobic activity, but just haven't found the time, energy, or money to do it so far. Hope you have a great day and that the news from your sister continues to be positive...

If we didn't have these trails it wouldn't be near as much fun to bike. Biking on the sides of the highway is not something I would want to do at all. Do you have bike trails near you?

I'm so glad it all turned out better than the original weather forecasts were for Bradenton.

Yeah , the trails sound fantastic! The main one that I know of around here is the one being constructed around Onondaga Lake which formerly had the distinction of being the most polluted lake in the U.S.

Millions have been spent by Honeywell Corp, it's been declared "cleaned up," our not-too-bright local politicians have taken highly-publicized dips in it, and I still can't stand the smell of it as I drive by at 65 MPH on the highway that's at least 5 football fields away from it.

That being the case, there's virtually no chance that I'm ever gonna ride a bike around it, lol. Hence my envy of your beautiful trails.

And yes, what a relief that Bradenton was spared the worst of it and thank you again for the updates...

I can imagine how difficult it was cycling on that path. I'm glad you both made it without incident.

Thanks for the update from Kathy.

I'm sure I grew some muscles that day. :-)

You are very welcome - I'm just glad it turned out not too badly for them.
