2nd egg

It is so hard to imagine that something as terrible as a hurricane is just a day's drive away from us and here in Western PA it is a foggy morning with still air - the sun just starting to peek through the fog - it looks like it's going to be a beautiful day. Your description of the egg laying ritual is absolutely wonderful! I love how the midwives all gather round and how they jumped up and back and there was an egg! ... and they all went out together. Such a caring family they are.

I am so glad I have the baby monitors. I never got to see the chickens in the privacy of their coop before.

I tried to call you tonight but the phone wires must be down. I can't wait till tomorrow and I hope I will be able to get through to you and see how you all are doing.

I just this afternoon got them some ceramic eggs. I thought they would miss the eggs that I took and wanted them not to miss them - though I'm sure I am giving them too much credit in the motherhood department. I don't think they can count so just having one egg in each box should trick them.
