Today was the monthly appointment for Dave to get his eye poked (his way of describing it). The last three times we have seen the same man (a fellow patient) in the waiting room and we are getting to know him better. Today when he came in and saw Dave he said, ah, my friend the forester. He used to be a minister and I bet he was a good one. I like ( Read more... )

Oh, terrible about the ticks! I would treat my clothes with this pyrethrum, too. I never even thought about putting on some kind of tick repellent. The tick experience sounds horrible!

I was actually thinking about Yoshi the other day and wondering how she was doing. I'm glad she is perking up with the crickets now.

Oh boy! Another new place to explore!

It reminds me of how allergic I was to the no-see-ums in Florida. I must be getting very sensitive for some reason now.

There is supposed to be a really nice view from Painter's Rocks - at least there was when he was a young man - I hope the trees around there haven't grown too much to block the view.

Yes, I'm glad she's doing better. I cut her nails too - they were pretty long - that might help get her more mobile.

That's nice you are getting to know that man better now and that he has told you of a new place to explore!

Your meal sounds yummy.

I hope Yoshi loses weight, now. I think trying to get at the crickets will make her exercise! I'm glad she is moving about more, now, anyway.

I use a homeopathic cream for tick bites. It is pretty effective. Every time it starts to itch again I put more on. That would happen no more than three or four times a day at most. I also have little homeopathic ledum pillules I can take for the itch. You only take 6-10 of them (they're tiny) and put them under your tongue to dissolve. I can also have some Ixodes homeopathic pillules I can take to take to make me less attractive to ticks when needed. I would hate to have to wear pyrethrum-soaked pants! I think pyrethrum is still not that good for us although better than the alternatives. Those little ticks are extremely itchy. I've had a couple lately. Must be the change of season and hint of rain we are getting. The big ticks can really hurt!

I was afraid that Andy would hurt her so never really tried having her out with him in the room - now I see that he leaves her alone so she is getting out for more exercise. That will help.

I'm going to look into the homeopathic insect bite cream - we have a store that sells stuff like that at the mall. Hydrocortisone (1%) cream does help a little and I use that.

Yes, the exercise will help and also she will have a more varied existence. That is so cool that Andy now is used to her!

I hope it works for you. If you take the pillules you must not touch them: just pour the right amount into the lid and toss them under your tongue. Hydrocortisone cream helps a little but comes with its own problems.
