That thing in the picture is his favorite thing to chew. It's called a "bully stick" (I don't know why) but it's made of hard rawhide. The ends where he chews on it gets softer. He has rubber toys too but he just likes those for playing fetch. And then he has ropes that he likes to play tug with.
I got the idea of the desk chairs cause we had one for the computer desk and it was so comfortable. There was a sale on them at Staples and that won me over!
Yet another example of how they train us. I had to backtrack quite a ways to find out how long you've had him. Oh my, he's lovely. I know he's a handful but you and Dave are wonderful people and he's found good owners.
I hope so. We are trying. We did get a bit frustrated for a few days and found getting angry with him does not help - at all! Things have made a nice turnaround now though.
This is one cute dog. I have a feeling he will be a hero dog or at the very least unforgettable. My big Lab was both. Once I got lost in an unfamiliar woods at dusk and he led the way to the car. On chewing, however.....For his entire life he could destroy all soft chew toys within 15 minutes and did. So I started asking at Pet Stores for the truly indestructible toys. Most of them had the name KONG on them. Teaching the retrieve will bring hours of enjoyment. Start with sticks or tennis balls. Give a directional arm gesture. Give the object a name. "Go get ball or go get stick." We later branched out into "Find the Ball." Then later find and go get combined on "Go get slippers". Being a smart dog, Bodie figured I wanted my slippers when I sat on the sofa. If I happened to be holding Book Club and sat on the sofa, he would proudly walk in with both slippers, without command and give them to a friend who was sitting in my spot. Hear ensuing laughter... Not chewing on the sofa is a very wise move. VERY Wise!
Ha - that is funny about him bringing your slippers to your chair (not to you).
I do like playing fetch with him but in the house it gets old fast. I'm not trusting him to be off leash in the yard cause we have a busy highway out front with horses that he is very curious about across the road. I hope we can get a fence put in this summer for him - that would be perfect.

Near your mosiac table, too!
I think he needs some softer squishy toys to chew on so that he does not hurt his teeth and gums - but not too soft and squishy!
