I like your description of your foggy morning. We have had quite a few of them ourselves, being winter. Also, your noticing the little goldfinch. I saw a pair of Lewin's Honeyeaters right outside my living room door a while ago - made my day! And more recently a Yellow Breasted Robin - just by himself. He didn't have his mate with him and was quite still. I wondered if he was migrating and tired.
