CAUTION: May be pretty graphic or disgusting.

I once wrote a writer's block entry about the types of food I wouldn't eat. I wrote down certain "Philippine delicacies," such as dog and cat. Speaking of "Philippine delicacies," just now, I read something about Soup Number Five. It turns out that this soup is made out of beef phallus and testicles. ( Read more... )

Mammals aren't the only in question. Fish, all over the world, are also packaged and prepared while they are still alive. I saw it with my very own eyes in the supermarket (as in the Unimart looking ones, not the wet market). They scale the fish alive and start to cut it wide open. Yes, the fish is clearly still trying to jump all around - making an effort to escape, as it squirms in pain - but fails. Only after what would be five to ten minutes of barbaric torture and nonstop gasping for breath do they decapitate it. In fact, some markets don't even kill the fish! After they gut it, they just leave in on top of ice. Yes, this happens even in a country called Canada.

OMG That's so mean! They should just kill it and be done with it.

I know we all know how we get our meat, its harsh. Now, knowing about it more, makes me wanna go vegan too. hahahaha,

all I can do is wish that someday (and it better be soon!), animals won't be killed brutally anymore.

Yeah I hope that too.

i agree. it's just so horrible. you can even watch the same thing on iron chef america. what's so hard about swinging a knife extremely hard? i mean, you're gonna kill the fish anyways, so just do it before you start giving it culinary surgery (hey! new term! haha). kunsabagay, fish do have weird nervous systems. even when decapitated, they still move around. as a matter of fact, some mouths keep moving. [hope i didn't scare you... most probably, i did. lol!]
