Very interesting! But it's only one species, and as the article says, the most interesting legacy of the Iron Curtain is the almost unbroken stretch of virtual nature-reserves between the Baltic and the Adriatic.

I always thought the most interesting legacy was "Wind of Change".... God, I hated that song at the time, and you couldn't escape it at all!! I was 11 when all of this happened, but I was following politics and history at the time, and I remember watching so much of this coverage with my Grandfather. He passed away that winter, so that may be why I have such vivid memories of the Wall coming down, but I also remember thinking this is what it's like to live history. Fascinating time.
