Tucked in or out?

F-list, I have a question!

So, when you go to bed:

Do you tuck the sheets in all around the edges or leave them loose? This question brought to you by the person on my facebook who mentioned that she likes it when her Dad tucks her in, which lead to Katie and I having a conversation about how she finds the concept of being tucked in kind of alien ( Read more... )

*cringe* The idea of being trapped beneath sheets and blankets, all hot and sticky and tangled and not able to get my feet out or anything . . .

I mean, come on, you've SEEN the way I sleep, even on the coldest night my feet aren't beneath the duvet.

And once we got past the being-read-to stage, we put ourselves to bed :P Which was good, since I used to keep the light on waaaaay later than I was allowed to.

My gran was different, she would read to me downstairs in the armchair and then we would go upstairs (where I had to say my prayers as a VERY little girl, haha) and then she would tuck me in. -g-

Haha, being able to kick my feet out is nice now, but I'm not sure what I'll do the next time I'm home... I bet I will go through the motions of making my bed just the way she taught me, sheets tucked in and all -g-

Tucking sheets/blankets in makes me feel like a mummy. My claustrophobia would last maybe twelve seconds then I would be screaming my ass off.

Hahaha, it sounds like you are like Katie :P I don't so much sleep like that anymore, but when I was a kid it would have been incredibly difficult to get to sleep otherwise, it made me feel safe from whatever could potentially crawl in and other scary thoughts -g-

It depends. I'm a little oddball when it comes to my bed because I kind of have this ritual I've had ever since childhood. I have to have everything smoothed and straightened out before getting into the bed, and I always tuck in my comforter at the foot of the bed, I leave the sides loose because I do like to move around, even though I'm a deep sleeper and hardly ever move when I'm asleep as I've been told. But then there are times when I feel the need to be cocooned, but rather tucking in the sheets underneath the mattress I tuck them underneath myself. I feel more secure that way. That whole "snug as a bug in a rug" feeling.

Also, it depends on the weather; if it's too hot definitely loose, and if it's too cold snuggled up with tucked comforter and all.

(Oh, and I also have this small irrational fear leftover from childhood about something wanting to grab my feet from underneath my bed so, securing myself by being tucked in helps those nerves sometimes; DON'T LAUGH IT IS A LEGITIMATELY GOOD REASON.)

I don't even use a topsheet. I'll buy sheet sets and throw out the topsheet, keeping only the fitted sheet because I don't like being tangled in a sheet as well as a blanket.

I hate the sheets tucked in. I cannot sleep and feel trapped. No one ever tucked me in literally when I was a child. I don't remember ever being put to bed. I simply remember getting into bed, but mostly not wanting to go to bed quite yet.
