Elizabeth did not become immortal. The end of The Adversary leads right into the Galactic Milieu books. They are an interesting read. May is slick in how everything is tied to everything else.

A lot of series I get annoyed with 'written/published' order and then have to go back and read them in cronological order. MCL & The intervention series are defintily related, and not strictly chronological, but I think in this case it is for the best.

I always read them in the order they were written. Sometimes this is because I'm reading them as they come out, but not always.

Any other order, and you risk too many spoilers. The May books especially.
