I think that the Pilot is worth a listen at least once. You'll probably laugh at how different things are from then to now. One of the things I remember them saying (I think it was in this commentary) was that Metropolis was 3 hours away from Smallville. Ha! :-)
OMG! How did I forget this one? I've listened to it, of course, and it is HILARIOUS! Erica, Allison and Kristin laughing their heads off about one of the campiest episodes of the show EVER? How can that NOT be epic? :D
Its pretty sad how unmemorable some of these commentaries are. I've listened to all of them, but some of them were so dull. My least favorite is Thirst because AlMiles are such fucking douchebags on it. And Legion is probably the most boring one ever. Geoff Johns, ZZZZZZZZZ!
My favs, not suprisingly, are Red, Rosetta, Transference and Spell.
I agree that the Legion commentary was really boring. There's 43 minutes of our lives we'll never get back! :-)
I was thinking the other day- maybe part of the reason that Tom stopped doing commentaries was because he was tired of being given back-handed compliments and thinly-veiled insults by TPTB on the commentaries and didn't want to be a part of it?
I hate the way that they talk about how "far his acting has come" and other b.s. like that. I think that there are ways that they could compliment his growth and abilities without implying that he sucked at first. Of course, I'm extra sensitive when it comes to our Tommy...
Oh yeah, I couldn't agree more. AlMiles just sucked on the commentaries when it came to Tom. And I don't think thats being sensitive at all. Thats being honest! And who was it on the Siren commentary again? (aside from Justin). Because they also SUCKED.
The Siren commentary was Justin and then Al & Miles and Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson- the sucktastic foursome. :-( That really pissed me off when one of them made a comment about how big Tom's trailer is.
As much as Smallville is an ensemble show blah, blah, blah, Tom IS the show and of course deserves a huge-ass trailer! Especially since I'm sure he's at work more than he's at home.
Speaking of Season 7, I really wish that Laura Vandervoort had done a DVD commentary. I would have loved to hear her talk about how she steered TPTB away from making Kara a silly, pop-culture obsessed girly-girl. I bet that Laura & Tom would have been awesome on a commentary together! Sigh...
Obviously my faves are the two with Tom, but I also really liked Spell, Truth, Transference, and Identity. I remember I was about halfway through the Truth one before I figured out James Marshall's commentary was on a completely different track. :)
I listened to/watched the Truth commentary a bunch of times for YEARS before I figured out that JM wasn't in the same room as JG & AM. I felt really dumb for not figuring that out!

Now that I have the S1 DVDs, maybe I should give the Pilot commentary a go...
