So, eefi (veekun's machine) is currently experiencing some ~catastrophic hardware failure~, and the host is building a replacement box.

But today it was brought to my attention that, since I have to migrate everything anyway, this is a fantastic time to consider switching hosts.

good lord no. and the bottleneck for veekun's load spike (which was almost certainly a one-time affair, alas) was a combination of cpu, app design, and apache's suckitude

Virtual is cool, so it's a good idea.

That is how my logic for this works and you should follow it.

We've been considering VPS over at Jul for TCRF (wiki.rustedlogic.net). Currently hosted through Dreamhost, but the wiki has overgrown. Considered Linode but settled with http://www.buildyourvps.com/packages.html as it you can really customize everything (and we get 10% back for referral).

Note that I know nearly nothing about this stuff, just relaying our solution :P
