I'm so sad the kindergartner with the skull never made it to screen. And that we never found out more about all those pieces of evidence listed at the end...

I didnt think the mars we got onscreen ended up being esp shy - i just got the impression he didnt like the majority of other kids that much.

And YES to the skull toddler and the other exhibits... altho the good news is we now have fanfic fuel!

Yeah, he never came across as particularly shy, and even did make quite a few friends. He just lost them at an alarming rate...

I'm also not sure about sweet or innocent. "Sweet" I tend to associate more with Simon. There is quite a bit of innocence in those early episodes where he still thinks if he can get the evidence to the right authorities, somebody will Do Something.

Another thing I noticed: Edgar is a "quasi scientist" in this draft, and not a full scientist?

Yeah, I wondered about that - my first interpretation was that he was gonna be like a pseudo-science scientist, like prof zircon but real, but maybe they meant like a lab techichian, ie doesn't have a doctorate?

I was re-reading the scripts a while back, and realized that they do never say what Edgar's highest degree is.

He's "Mr. Teller" instead of "Dr. Teller" in Marshall's Theory... and it's possible he stopped after finishing "Matter: What Is It Exactly" as his master's thesis.

But he is also very much a scientist there, which makes me wonder if they did have a different career path in mind in this draft.

He could be an engineer, I think you can be a pretty high level engineer in a lot of sciencey-type fields without a doctorate
