A little from column A, a little from column B? Mostly B.

Part of me wants to call him an unintentional troll, though I think that's being a bit kind. I have met multiple people like him in real life who do the whole "politely" ignoring arguments and asking more squirrelly questions in the name of "generating conversation" more to a lack of social skills and the ability to argue effectively rather than malevolence of any sort.

But mostly B.

Part of me is disappointed you didn't make this a poll, if only because I wanted to click the bottom button.

Re: unintentional troll -- Balefont said much the same thing, although she phrased it "the not-so-sweet version of Ser Scot."

I second the call for a poll! clicky clicky

Poll's up! Now I kind of wish I could make a column-based poll, where people could split out how much they think comes from column A, and how much from column B.

I wonder if LJ takes suggestions....

YAY!!!!

I suppose you could set up a poll where each options represents a certain percentage along the continuum, which choice 1 being 100% column A, choice 2 being 80:20 A:B, and so on.

troll trolly troll. I've started trolling him back, which isn't very becoming of a mod, but is endlessly entertaining nevertheless.

He totally fulfilled every expectation when he started talking about his penis and erections (or lack thereof) in the exercise thread. Ever since his arrival, he's been adding sexual content to threads that don't warrant it and posting endlessly in Bakker threads. Gods, he is fucking creepy.

Ahahha. Yeah, that was just ridiculous. I loved your response.

Also, don't forget that Bakker is the most amazing author in the history of the written word, because Philosophy! and Perception! and unfair piling on against such a wonderful, wonderful discussion partner.

I think he's more serious than we'd all like to believe.

Most of the time I absolutely take him at face value. I think that he honestly doesn't understand what's inappropriate about any of his posts or phrasing or whatever.

Every once in a while it just piles up and I have a hard time believing that anyone who purports to want true change is so immediately dismissive of any responses. I've been in the world long enough -- and on the internet long enough -- to know better, but it still boggles me.

I don't think it's the least believable thing on the board in the even the last 24 hours, honestly.

No, but more than one thing can be unbelievable at a time. :p

He seems to be very genuine in his trolling. I'm not sure which is worse though. The person who behaves badly but believes the are in the right to do so or the person who knows how intentionally acts badly.

I think the former is worse. With people who intentionally act badly, I feel like there's a chance you could reason with them and get them to either see the error of the ways or simply let up for a while.

The ones who believe they are in the right will probably try to debate every last thing you say in an effort to continue to portray themselves as being in the right.

Troll. I was wavering for a while but there is no doubt in my mind now. I don't know if such a thing as "unintentional troll" exists. He's just unbelievable.
