So, this weekend was kee-razy for me. I worked overtime on Saturday, and the kids were here. Early Monday morning, about 3:30 a.m., I woke up to the sound of someone being sick. Since turning 18, I've only had health coverage for about a year, and that was through Jimmy about two years ago. The rest of the time, I've gone to the community clinic as necessary and paid out of pocket. Good thing my treatment (minimal) after my car accident was covered by my auto insurance, eh? Because one trip to the ER with x-rays, and then chiro care for about 3 months afterward ran over eight grand ( ... )

Oh, and I know that I'm complaining, but for the record, this is the first security job I've had that offered the guards anything other than a very minimal cafeteria plan. And last year, we didn't even have to pay anything for the Kaiser coverage. Now we do have to pay, and the plan sucks. This is the Laurel Jinx in action: I've never gone to work somewhere that people weren't saying, "Oh, you should have been here last year, before we went to this crappy health plan," or, "Oh, you should have been here last year when we all got $2500 bonuses; this year we're getting all getting a ham."
