Wedding?

I received a very strange and exciting email today. No, it wasn't from a Mexicorn duke who wants to slobber on my pens (great video, G-Rated), it was from an old friend of mine from my Island days. Mt sister got married last summer, and she and her hubby had a hand-binding ritual with two strips of hand-dyed batik fabric, after which (wrists bound together) they shared a glass of wine. She sews and adores batiks, they both love wine, and they loved the symbolism of hand-binding, and sharing a cup, etc etc. It wasn't Ren-Faire in the slightest. I think there are ways to incorporate these kinds of traditions without getting all "on the wings of dragonflies" about it. If you find a way to weave seemingly disparate things together, and if the overall feeling isn't strongly "themed" (like, the bride's NOT in a corset and the groom ISN'T wearing a floppy tam with a pom-pom) you'll be fine.
