Rediscovering Japan

Japan is very beautiful, and its people are very kind.

Words that we would have been embarrassed to say before our travels we can now say honestly and openly.

Every experience and person we met through these travels is precious, and the country where such people live is Japan. We realized this once again.

We would like to know more and more about this Japan that we live in.

And we want to pass on these feelings to the children of the future as well.

How Arashi did their traveling:

1. Travel freely, going where you feel like as much as possible.

2. Take the time to feel the atmosphere around you.

3. Talk to the people who live in the area.

4. Take pictures as memories of the journey.

5. Buy souvenirs for the other members.

The Trip is over… but it is just the beginning

Ohno Satoshi, Aiba Masaki, Matsumoto Jun, Sakurai Sho, Ninomiya Kazunari. Having each finished their wonderful journeys, they are all now very clearly imagining Japan’s bright future.

In 2008, the song “Green” was announced. “What is it that we be doing right now for the earth’s environment and the children’s’ futures?” It was a song that both raised this question, and showed a commitment to act, no matter how small, to make changes. In taking this idea one step further, the members all shared one thought. That was to learn more about Japan.

Besides the environment, the world is burdened with many problems such as food supply or conflicts between cultures. These problems have become such that it is difficult to know where to even begin in addressing them. However, isn’t it for this very reason that we need to know more about this country that we live in? This is how the members felt, and how this book came into being.

Globalization must actually be taking a good look inside oneself. At Japan, at the city you live in, at your family, at you yourself. Looking deeper and deeper inside yourself for your thoughts and actions are the fastest way to reach the world. What we need to do right now is surely to have pride in the fact that we are Japanese.

This Japan that we live in now is filled with honest people who are kind and sincere. In the busy city lifestyle it has become more difficult to see these people, and through this journey the Arashi members were able to meet them. It was not many, but more than enough to be able to feel the wind that is stirring up around us. By bringing together this wind, we wanted to start a gentle storm for Japan. That’s what we believe…

Nippon no Arashi is starting.
