This is where the nightmare began with Glory. *hugs* I am so so so sorry.

It may be a genetic issue with the breed - they may all be highly susceptible, like Persians to killer sinus conditions.

I hope it works better for him. As a tip, take away anything with fish in it and find the food with the lowest "ash" content. The sensitive kidney stuff is pricey, but while you're working on that, do this.

I wish I could help more.

He and all the others cats have always only been on Wellness turkey, but because of the kidney issues now, thatll be too high in protein for him, so we'll have to fall back on something like Hills special diet for him (which will making feeding time interesting, as they tend to graze from each other's plates, even if I start him by feeding him In a different place).

If you can, put this on a wish list - http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3261+1910+1913+25998&pcatid=25998

They are also the cheapest I have found the thyroid meds for hyperthyroid cats (I use the transdermal gel on my cat - she *hates* pills). Kidney issues can also be caused by the hyperthyroid problem, so they may get better or completely resolved once they thyroid issue is being dealt with.

Will do! We use them for the flea/tick meds, which We need to order. They're due to start using them again as this is another season that's going to be a bad one for insects. (they're indoors, but obviously the fleas don't seem to realize that.....)

Our gray torti developed hyperthyroidism as a young adult. We put her on generic methimazole (tapazole), which we got for about $30/100 tabs online. That came to about $10/month (plus vet bills). She died last month at age 20.

She's perched on my shoulder in the icon.

This is very encouraging to know. His blood sugar is up, too, and I just hope this isn't diabetes as well. We dealt with Fielder's just fine, but the test strips are very expensive, and we wouldn't have the money for that now. :( I'll find to more tomorrow.
