I am so sorry for your pain. I wish I had the money right now to help, but everything extra is going to DS's medical bills. (((HUGS))) I passed it along, though.

I donated something just now (it'll be from top@---.ams.com). It's not a lot, but I know dental woes -- as I said in the note to the donation, I've had a good ten root canals with attendant abcesses, and I just got a crown put in today. I'll be linking over here in my journal.

PM me about any barter you might be up for.

Oh! Refered here from ginmar.

Will PM you. I'm up for just about any barter to get these teeth fixed, and the attendant help from y'all.

And thank you.

And do abscesses really swell up and hurt this much? Is this normal? I mean, when do I know I'm at the "OMG I must go to the ER now" stage? Any ideas?

Well, some swelling is expectable, particularly if you haven't been on antibiotics very long (the white blood cells have to go somewhere, after all!) but I'm a bit suspicious about the going down the neck -- mine always stayed reasonably face/tooth centered. The pain? Well, that is normal, alas. I've had some be totally agonizing, and some be less so. I think it depends on how infected it is and how much drainage you don't have, as well as the way your nerves grow in that particular tooth. For example, I had an abcess in my front tooth, which hurt like a mf and I was so glad to get to the dentist and get the first shot, which helped with the pain. Then he started drilling and I jumped out of the chair in pain. He tried more shots, including one directly into the pulp, and it still didn't touch the frickin' pain. Apparently that tooth had nerve endings all over that would not be numbed. He said that could happen. And the only thing I could do was sit there and let him do the work, or else it would just continue hurting ( ... )

That's all good to know -- and I REALLY appreciate hearing it from someone with experience (I'm so sorry you did have all that experience, but I'm glad you were willing to share it with me). (May I ask, since you have had so many root canals, do you also have Sjogren's Syndrome, like me?)

So far tonight's pretty rocky, but I'm only on my second dose of the antibiotics. I'll see how it is come morning. I don't think I'll sleep much, though.
