this isn't just about TV personalities

I know this is a hot topic. I'm sure there are people I know, unawares, who disagree with the scientific concept of using embryonic stem cells for medical research. Heck, I know some members of my own family disagree strongly enough that I wouldn't even dream of bringing up the topic in their company ( Read more... )

Keep your eyes open for B- and T-cell research, which is going on now. I will be writing about some of it in the next few days. The inflammatory response for FM and Raynaud's can both be regulated through proper B/T-cell response -- there may be breakthroughs very soon along those lines, similar to this new breakthrough for lupus.

Thank you for expressing that so well. I'm going to start using my LJ "Memories" feature again, starting with this very post.

The world would be a hell of a lot better if more people thought this clearly.

Thank you so much for posting this! You don't know me but I came here from ginmar's list. I've suffered from CFS/Fibromyalgia for the last twenty years and I understand your struggles. Often it's completely impossible to live a 'normal' life and it's difficult getting people to understand how fortunate they are.

It may be that stem cell research can help you and I hope that they allow the research to continue and that someday in the not to distant future that you'll be able to live the kind of life you want.

In the next few days I'm going to write more about B- and T-cell research into the immune and inflammatory response systems, which looks promising for people with CFS, FM, UCTD (Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease), Sjogren's, Raynaud's, and the lot. It may be that we both will have improved lives in the future. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

I hope you don't mind me commenting. I was linked here by Ginmar, and I just wanted to say that you're an eloquent voice of reason amidst all the controversy.

I love your avatar here. I grew up in a Scottish household -- tea was for everything. Good news? Tea. Bad news? Tea. I run my own house that way to this day.

My favorite new Lush bath ballastic? "Tea and Sympathy". Dammit, they seem to not be offering it in the U.S. anymore. Damn their eyes!

I actually haven't tried that ballistic yet, though it did catch my eye. :D I'm a tea fanatic! It's the ultimate in liquid comfort.
