I like this meme much more than the other version.

Here are my thoughts:

1. Is this Pippa at the recent wedding? Is the word matrimony?
2. This appears to be a picture of your Mum. Family is very important.
3. I'm afraid I'm not a geologist, so my guess here is minerals, given that's where your research interests lie...
4. Is this the Medusa Nebula? I imagine you're hinting at the hobby of astronomy here.
5. An easy one for some: Middlesbrough. The town where you lived for *cough mumble* years. :)
6. An art installation in the grounds of Churchill college, Cambridge. Am I right in saying that the majority of people on your friends list were met in Cambridge? I think this is important thing here, although I'm at a loss as to which M-word you're thinking of. Mates?

I agree with 3, 5, 7 and 10 of 832's summation. 8 may just be a mess. The symmetry of 3 does not appear to be monoclinic, for which I frankly don't blame you. 1 is as likely to be marriage as matrimony but I don't believe it is either.

Hmmm.... I don't want to reveal which guesses are right or wrong at this point so all I'll say is that none of your new Ms are the ones I was thinking of. 9 is pretty close but no banana I'm afraid.
