I really liked 'Alice in Wonderland' mainly because I like Tim Burton's films in general; thought Johnny Depp & Helena Bonham Carter were fantastic, although I was a bit disappointed with Anne Hathaway's Queen. She tried too hard to be funny & quirky, IMHO. The 3D effects were good, better than in some of the 3D films recently. I can relate to you getting excited about the effects though - loved it 'snowing' in 2009's 'Christmas Carol' (even though the movie itself was actually a bit scary and not all that good!)
Not sure what my actual fave film of 2010 has been, though...I'll have to think about that one some more! Hope you're feeling better *hugs*
I think Anne Hathaway can't really play anyone but Anne Hathaway - she always sounds and looks the same and has done ever since that first film she was in years ago....where she discovered that she was a princess and not just an ordinary student? Had Julie Andrews in it? Sigh. My memory sucks sometimes.
I don't know a lot of Tim Burton films but am planning to remedy that. I really want to see Edward Scissorhands, as well as The Nightmare before Christmas, especially.
Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter was my favourite role of his, ever, even superceding Captain Jack.
I did see Alice in Wonderland but just regular, not 3D. I love Johnny Depp in anything he does though. He is a wonderful actor. I hope to see The Tourist soon. This week I saw Black Swan and the latest of the Narnia Chronicles. Enjoyed both very much.
I liked Black Swan but it was scary. A psychological thriller and I was on the edge of my seat. Another day My sister and her male friend went to it and HE wimped out- left during the movie's sex scene part! I got a laugh out of that. Johnny Depp got the People's Choice Award last night. He seems so shy and humble in person. I read he loves acting especially when he's like Captain Jack Sparrow and can be all in make-up so he come out of his shell. I've been bumming that I couldn't get a satisfactory entry ready this week(yet). I am my own worst enemy of course. But I am finally just getting ready to post now. All this new SCI and prizes etc. is so much to keep track of. I have read a lot of the new and returning people. Lots of good stuff. Plus I TRY to keep up reading in the GR too, though still shy to comment much. I feel fine chatting with you!
