Another Film Review - Oblivion

May 06, 2013 20:44

Oblivion is a Tom Cruise vehicle in which Tom Cruise plays the protagonist and all other characters exist to provide purpose to his actions. If you're happy with that then I recommend Oblivion, it's got a great aesthetic, a reasonably twisty if slightly predictable plot, lots of nice explosions and lots and lots of chases through pretty if slightly illogical scenery. It's also got Morgan Freeman playing Laurence Fishburne from the Matrix, which he does exceedingly well (except he's less mysterious and philosophical and instead smokes a giant cigar)

Note: Anyone who cares deeply about the abundance of hydrogen isotopes in terrestrial water compared to that on the outer planets and the significance of this for powering space-based fusion reactors should be prepared to just roll with it for the duration of this film.
