I really like the detail on the jewellery! Is the hand drawn from reference? The shading is good but for some reason the first joint of the fingers looks a bit long (or maybe you just have long fingers!)
I like the symbolism of the links in the background :)
The hand I spent about 4 hours perfecting by sketching, looking at my hand, sketching, looking at my own hand (that's why it's a left hand)... etc. I tried to make the hand look sort of androgynous, like a mix of Joe's hand and my own-- but I did make the first joint a bit longer than I intended, I guess. Oh well. His fingers are damn long... :P.
and.. thank you. I wanted to draw one of them more traditional celtic knot-style and intricate and steady, and one more scattered/complicated and doodled, for Joe and me respectively. I think I just got lazy when it came to those..... :P they were the last things I painted on, and not very well planned.
Well if his fingers are damn long and you're mixing them, then that's okay! I didn't realize the hand was meant to be a bit of joe's as well; I thought his bit was down the bottom. The shading is actually really nice on it; looks like you did it from life.
Haha it's cool :D The meaning is still there. It's a very sweet painting :)
