This was spawned from an abortive comment on demiurgent's last post. I figured that, like so much of what I've had to say recently, it would just be boring to the people reading Eric's journal who have no idea who I am and who really don't give a flying fuck at a rolling donut about my hangups, so I'm posting it here, where all of you can not give the same ( Read more... )

I'm not a big commentor, either. I'm not up in the wee hours of the night when a lot of the forums I would read update with new content, so by the time I've gotten there, most of the interesting things to say have been said and I try not to do "Me too!" posts. Or, honestly, "Wow, good point!" posts, unless the point is so cosmically good that it has some impact in my life past the web forum. It usually takes a mighty need for a clue-bat to move me to comment in any forum that isn't an LJ of someone I know. (I agree with you that there's something different about LJs.)

When I do post, I'm not really expecting comments. I'm never a known forum regular. If there was a clue-bat application and it was not well received, I actually avoid the forum for a while. "Near occassion of sin" and all that; I allow myself one reply to a negative comment to clarify my first post and then wander off, before it goes all flame war-y. I guess that, if there were no comments, I assume it ( ... )
